Both Murray and Michael have served as CEOs in a number of community service organisations and can bring this breadth of experience to work alongside and help CEOs and senior executives navigate situations where additional expertise or just another set of hands is needed. To others we are invisible, but we are  working alongside you to produce outcomes you just don't have the capacity or time to achieve.

 Aged care and disability support organisations in Australia are now engaged as businesses and this often requires a different mindset within not-for-profit agencies to enable them to retain their community principles while striving to be as competitive and successful as possible. And new entrants to these sectors need to manage operating their fresh and innovative perspectives within established and regulated frameworks. Capacity’s directors have a track record of successfully running organisations in a competitive environment and are able to work with agencies to identify and address the strategies needed to give them a commercial advantage. 

Royal Commissions and program reviews in aged care and disability support have resulted in legislative and regulatory changes that pose challenges for services striving to compete within an increasingly commercial environment. Capacity has the tools and the expertise to work with CEOs, senior management teams and boards to implement change management programmes which can highlight what needs to be done and the resources required to do it while still focusing on delivering high quality services.  

Key to success within a competitive business environment is understanding how secure an organisation is financially and whether or not it is sufficiently robust to take on the strategic challenges it has identified as critical to its growth and/or continued existence. Capacity is well equipped to work with CEOs and boards of management to analyse financial data, provide a critical lens to the articulated goals of organisations, and assist with decisions about what is needed to ensure the realisation of these goals and the security of the organisation’s future.

Capacity can use the experience of its Directors to act in place of a CEO in circumstances where the CEO has had to step aside, or an organisation is requiring leadership prior to a new CEO taking over or being recruited. Murray in particular has had experience of operating in this way with a number of Australian charity organisations. 

Capacity has unique experience in the development of quality standards and the instruments that are used to implement these as certification mechanisms. Michael has held an executive role which required him to oversee quality audits against an industry standard, and to review and revise that standard to improve its compatibility to other standards used in the aged care and disability sectors. Murray has extensive experience successfully leading organisations he has led through audit and certification processes. Together Capacity can assist services to prepare for and complete the audits against industry standards which are being increasingly mandated across community services.

Whether that is working one-on-one, in working groups or jointly with university research units, we can drive a solutions that you can trail and adjust. Some challenges are big and others are small, but they both need a clear focus and the time to spend getting the work done, all the time keeping everyone motivated.
